This place has everything that you will need, plus a little bit more. However, looking through the window at all the equipment and ingredients made it evident that we would have to come back soon, and this time during business hours. Little did we know that it was actually attached to the brewery, or that they closed at 4pm on Saturday. On my first visit to Kuhnhenn, I planned to visit the homebrew shop next door. This place likely has everything and more that you will need. I'm hoping to have the opportunity sometime this summer. The service was good, and the guy I talked with recommend I try their BOP before I get into investing in a home-brew set up. Something I did see was actual leaf hops instead of pellets, which I'd not previously seen for sale in the area. I'm not a home-brewer, but i'm sure anyone who would walk in would near cry at the amazing selection. There is also a decent selection of home wine making supplies as well. Upon walking in, it may look unorganized or cluttered, but upon close inspection, everything is is proper order all the homebrewing equipment is logically in order, with something for the first timers all the way up to experienced. I decided to stop in here after a few beers at the brewpub next door. I absolutely cannot recommend this place to a novice homebrewer, and I'd think long and hard before recommending it to an expert. (For such accomplished brewers, don't these people know the value of clean and sterile equipment?) ("Well, we might get some more 12oz bottles in the week after next, but I really don't know when that'll be.") What little they actually stock might be scattered anywhere within the store, and both store and stock are absolutely filthy. ("Oh, I'm sure you wouldn't want to trouble your pretty little head with all this tough, manly home-brewing business - why don't you go back to your apple-berry-tinis and leave the beer to us manly men?") Supplies are frequently out of stock, with no reasonable re-order time frames. I've been in here a few times, and on each occasion I've found the customer service to be nothing short of appalling, with a healthy dose of chauvinism thrown in. This place might be cheap, but frankly that's about all it has going for it. Great place to go to when you realize on brew day: "I forgot to get." Mar 14, 2012 Specialty malts are always available, however they seem to run out of the standard base malts at times. Grain prices and availability are what bring me back. If there was better service, I would go more often. At first you may feel that you are being talked down to, and their tone seems like that, but in the end, they are very straight forward and don't over elaborate. Be sure to check for freshness, as some things are dated. New brewers: do not be frightened, as there are many kits, and all you need to do is ask. If you don't ask for help, it's a nice learning process! However, the malts are all self serve, which is nice. If you ask for a bag, you get a stereotypical grocery bag. I suggest you bring your own bag for carrying malts. All you have to do is ask, as he won't go out of his way to help. Sometimes, if you show him what you want, he can help make your recipe better. If they don't have the yeast strain you need, he can easily point you to a similar strand or methods to acheive your goal. To date, they have had everything I needed except once (a certain yeast strand). The more I visit, the better the greeting I recieve. However, after continuing to shop here, the service has improved (for me) and I have noticed that the clerk is extreemly knowledgable, and can help you with anything. And, frankly, I still feel like that at times. I felt like the clerk was uninterested in me and my brewing ambitions. The first time I went here, I was completely unimpressed dirty atmosphere, lack of service, etc. This is my local brew shop, as it is the closest to my house (10 miles vs. I think it may have been his favorite part of the day. Burnout is high among nurses and nursing assistants ( 19– 21) in diverse healthcare settings ( 22– 24). Nurses play a distinct and critical role in the health system however they are frequently under increased stress and work overload ( 18). Reduced PA reflects feelings of incompetence at work and negative self-evaluation ( 1, 9).īurnout leads to personal suffering including sleep complaints ( 10), increased use of alcohol/drugs ( 11), family conflict ( 12), higher work absenteeism ( 13), higher staff turnover, early retirement and significant financial impact ( 14), self-reported unprofessional conduct ( 15), and suicidal ideation ( 16, 17). BackgroundĪccording to Maslach's description, EE is the syndrome‘s core dimension and refers to feelings of being emotionally overextended and depleted of one's emotional resources ( 1). Depression has a significant relationship with burnout however, the potential influence of major depressive disorder (MDD) on MBI validation has not been specifically investigated. Some inconsistencies in its validation and its possible determinants have been described ( 5– 8). The Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) is the most widely used instrument to assess burnout it has been translated into various languages and has been used in innumerous countries ( 4). Therefore, researchers and health professionals should be aware of potential changes in the psychometric properties of the MBI-HSS when applied in subjects with depression.īurnout is a syndrome including emotional exhaustion (EE), depersonalization (DE) and low personal accomplishment (PA), resulting from prolonged stress at work ( 1– 3). For the total sample, while original 3-factor solution was an acceptable model, the bifactor model fitted data better.Ĭonclusions: MDD may impair the construct validity of MBI-HSS subscales, by increasing measurement error and decreasing model fitness. Also, we found higher coefficients of correlation among MBI-HSS factors and less items loading properly in their respective factors in the MDD subset, when compared to the non-MDD subset. Results: From a sample of 521 nursing assistants, we found in those with MDD ( n = 138, 24.56%) a degree of data misfit into the model, revealed by non-acceptable values for the root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA 0.073 p = 0.004) and for the comparative fit index (CFI 0.912), while in the non-MDD group these indices were acceptable and good, respectively, for RMSEA (0.048 p = 0.639) and for CFI (0.951). We developed this study to investigate the influence of MDD on the psychometric properties of the MBI-HSS in nursing assistants. Although various factors have been reported to influence its validity, the influence of major depressive disorder (MDD) has not been previously considered. 8Department of Neurosciences and Behavior, University of São Paulo School of Medicine, São Paulo, Brazilīackground: The Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Services Survey (MBI-HSS) is the most commonly used instrument to assess burnout.7Department of Psychiatry, New York University School of Medicine, New York, NY, United States. 6Department of Experimental Psychology, Institute of Psychology, University of São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil.5Department of Pathology, University of São Paulo School of Medicine, São Paulo, Brazil.4Division of Psychology, Central Institute, Clinics Hospital, University of São Paulo School of Medicine, São Paulo, Brazil.3Technical Advisory Office–State Department of Health–São Paulo State Government, São Paulo, Brazil.2Section of Psychiatric Epidemiology (LIM-23), Department and Institute of Psychiatry, Clinics Hospital, University of São Paulo School of Medicine, São Paulo, Brazil.1Laboratory of Neuro Imaging (LIM-21), Department and Institute of Psychiatry, Clinics Hospital, University of São Paulo School of Medicine, São Paulo, Brazil.
